2023 Health Security Innovation Forum: Strengthening Essential Care

KIHASA held the 2023 Health Security Innovation Forum on April 4th, focusing on the theme of innovating Korea's healthcare system and the lessons drawn from Covid-19. The event, which took place at Maewha Hall on the 19th floor of the Korea Press Center in Seoul, aimed to strengthen essential care in the Korean healthcare system by examining the lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic. The forum featured a range of speakers, including Cho Kyu-hong, the Minister of Health and Welfare, who delivered the opening congratulatory remarks. Professor Jung Jae-Hoon from Gachon University College of Medicine also presented on the evaluation of Korea's healthcare system in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Shin Hyunwoung, Senior Research Fellow at KIHASA, provided insights on future policy directions for sustainable healthcare. The event also included a panel discussion moderated by Professor Kim Jin-Hyun from Seoul National University School of Nursing. Panelists included Shin Sung-sik, a reporter from JoongAng Ilbo, Yoo Myung-soon from Seoul National University School of Public Health, Cho Min-woo from Ulsan National University College of Medicine, Jang Jang-in from Yonsei University College of Medicine, and Jung Yoon-soon, the Director of Health Insurance Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare. For those who were unable to attend in person, the forum was also livestreamed on YouTube. The event provided an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to come together and discuss ways to strengthen essential care in Korea's healthcare system.
