This study was conducted as a part of the collaborative efforts, with aim of improving the healthcare system in Uzbekistan, between the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The purpose of this study is to present the direction of improving the nursing education system as a means to improve the quality of nursing in Uzbekistan, based on Korea’s experience of improving nursing education.

To improve the nursing education system in Uzbekistan, we recommend a short-term improvement plan as follows: systematization of nursing jobs, introduction of nursing education standards, establishment of an education and training system at hospitals, and increase of the number of nurses who have completed with higher education in nursing. In mid- to long-term, securing teachers who are capable of providing quality nursing education, establishing independent nursing universities, cultivating experts who can respond to changes in the future, and improving the status and role of nurses are needed.
